Micro Hydro Turbines – with Murray Grimwood

Micro hydro can provide a genuinely low impact way of generating your own electricity for those who are off the grid and live by a water source. Murray and his partner live off the grid in a home they built themselves for less than $50,000. They use a small micro hydro turbine (made from the motor from an old Fisher and Paykel washing machine) to generate approximately 75watts, enough to power their low energy home! I spoke to Murray about micro hydro and the system they use.
