There seem to be more native birds than ever here in Dunedin. According to a recent study, Dunedin is again the urban native bird capital of New Zealand. Why is this? What can we do to encourage more native birds to come into our gardens to feed and even to breed? Should we supplementary feed? What are good tree and shrub species to plant?
In this programme, I chat with Derek Onley about these questions and more. Derek is a well respected ornithologist who has written and illustrated bird books as well as carrying out bird surveys for many years. He is co- author of The Field Guide to New Zealand Birds.
