Low Carbon Ocean Sailing – with Eilish Wylie

On the 3rd December 2016 I went to the outskirts of a neighbouring village to me on the Ards Peninsula, Northern Ireland, to talk with Eilish Wylie, who with her husband Richard recently travelled to South America and  back – on their yacht which Richard constructed in the backyard! The journey started for her husband in Northern Ireland with Eilish joining him in Northern Spain. Their story fascinates me because they have followed their dream to travel very adventurously and they have done it with sustainability in mind – living simply, using solar power for electrics and wind power to transport their ship. Diesel use was kept to an absolute minimum.
